Common questions

Multiplayer FAQ

Does the joining player need the same game file?

No. The host starts the game, and the other player joins the room with their own controls.

Are game files uploaded to Free Play Bay?

No. User-selected game files are read locally by the host’s browser. Free Play Bay does not provide copyrighted commercial ROMs.

Why might online multiplayer feel delayed?

Online play can have some delay depending on both devices and their internet connections. Stable Wi-Fi and newer devices usually provide the smoothest experience.

Can rooms be private?

Hosts can use password-protected rooms when they want to invite specific friends instead of listing an open public session.
